something i thought i'd share... saw this on my forum and i even may try it myself
take a lemon, squeeze the juice in to a cup of water, and then drink it. do that every 4 hours- it's meant to calm your brain. so it's good for people that hear voices or have disturbing thoughts
i'm looking forward to trying it because i've been pretty bad lately.
Interesting. I know it helps with sore throats, but not the emotions. Add honey for the vitamin B12 this also helps.
you learn something every day lol
Does it actually work? I just can't imagine a lemon calming emotions.
oh yes, it works!
sounds strange i know, and i can't remember the exact theory behind it, but it has been successfull for a lot of people
if i find the actual theory, i'll post here
Hmm, wonder what the theory behind this is? The act of squeezing the lemon being a stress reliever? Some chemical in the juice? Do you know anything about the logical reason why why this is supposed to work, Dan? I must admit I am skeptical.
well alicia, later today i'm going to post the exact theory.
i need to find it first... it's in 1 of my threads on another forum about calming the mind
k for alicia and anyone else, i'll copy and paste the message that was sent to me:
There are two things that might be helpful for some. There is no guarantee that it will work
for all, however, Shattered sanity:
1. Lemons are very acidic when they are in the mouth, but when they are digested they become one of the most alkaline foods one can ingest.
The alkalinity is what is helpful in calming the system. There are several websites that talk about these things. One of them on Google would be www.http//Alkalinefoods.com
You might also check the positive effects of lemons on the internet.
2. Unrefined sea salt, which is quite different from refined sea salt produced by U.S. manufacturers, is helpful for reucing acid around brain cells. I prefer Himalayan sea salt; it is supposedly the best in the world. The website for that would be to google www.http//valueofseasalt.com or www.http//benefitsofseasalt.com
3. It is known that bipolar illness is an inflammation of a part of the brain that fires too rapidly. Acidity of the fluids of the system may be part of any inflammation, so whatever
we can do to lower the acid residue of metabolized medications might be helpful in reducing some of the symptoms one has with feeling tone being poor. I stopped using American salt products months ago and feel much better.
4. You may also have been told that bipolar illness is a chemical imbalance. The information I have regarding what the illness is came from my psychiatrist (not about the salt, however. I learned that from another source). She also recommended adding more fresh vegetables and salads to the diet and cutting back on consumption of meat.
I try now to have a large green salad every day that I can.
